Reflections:
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the networking and telecommunications course with Dr. Ken Wo. Skimming through the text prior to the start of the course, I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the new acronyms and terminology. Slowly these acronyms TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, MAN and VoIP, etc., became a routine part of my vocabulary. The weekly research articles although a bit tedious at the time, in retrospect were extremely valuable. First, I became aware of what was new in the technology field . Secondly, it was beneficial to begin the process of writing papers using the APA format, in light of being absent from the classroom for so many years.
Ultimately the project was one of my favorites in the program. I chose a scenario to connect a series of buildings and set up the networks between and within the locations utilizing the knowledge gained in the course. This was the first of many opportunities I had in the MMI program to use the Visio diagramming software. Each phase of the project was built upon the previous one and took me methodically through the process of planning, development, and design while working within budget constraints.
